Common disadvantage
associated with using snow chains
This has to do with a specific law.
In most states, it is prohibited to drive on
bare pavement with snow chains on your tires,
and can be a misdemeanor traffic violation.
Since snow chains can damage asphalt surfaces,
chains must be removed when the road is clear,
and re-installed the snow chains when the road
